Challenge Tour stars join established Tour players & 3-time Major winner on roster...

Wilson Golf, the brand with more Major wins with its irons than any other, has announced the signing of German golfer Hurly Long and Englishman Andrew Wilson to its DP World Tour roster on multi-year deals.

The pair enjoyed a successful season on the Challenge Tour last year culminating in earning their full Tour cards and both players will tee it up as a Wilson player at the Ras al Khaimah Championship presented by Phoenix Capital at the Al Hamra GC, Ras Al Khaimah, UAE.

Long – who represented Germany at the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games - gained his Tour card with a consistent season last year with six top-10 finishes including a 2nd place at the Challenge de Cádiz. He has one career win to his name at the 2020 Italian Challenge Open.

His solid performances meant only missing four cuts in 22 Challenge Tour appearances and finishing in 17th place on the Road to Mallorca Rankings. He attended Texas Tech University and won the 2017 Carmel Cup at Pebble Beach and has represented Germany in three Eisenhower Trophy tournaments in 2014, 2016 and 2018.

The 26-year-old will play Wilson Staff Model Blades (4-PW) carried in the distinctive Wilson red Tour bag, plus a branded cap.

Andrew Wilson turned professional in 2018 and qualified for his first Major through regional qualifying for The 148th Open at Royal Portrush finishing in a tie for 32nd. He earned promotion to the DP World Tour for 2022 through the Challenge Tour's Road to Mallorca Rankings following two top-3 finishes at the Italian Challenge and the Empordà Challenge, plus four top-10’s.

The 27-year-old – who has a bachelor’s and Masters degree at Northumbria University – will play the Wilson Staff Model CB irons (4-PW) and the Staff Model ball, plus a Wilson branded cap.

“I’m really excited to get my first DP World Tour season underway and I can’t thank Wilson enough for the backing and help they’ve provided,” said Andrew.

“Last year was some of the best golf I’ve ever played and I feel so comfortable with the Staff Model CB irons and the ball is just incredible. It’s long off the tee and provides great feel with the irons off the fairway and around the green,” he added.

The two new signings join a strong Advisory Staff line-up playing the brand’s latest clubs on a global basis this season.

Three-time Major champion and former European Ryder Cup captain Padraig Harrington will go into his 24th season as a Wilson player and continue one of sports longest running partnerships. The Irishman has started the 2022 season well with a T9 finish at the recent Slync.io Dubai Desert Classic, following a top-20 finish at the Abu Dhabi HSBC Championship.

Swede Joakim Lagergren, a winner during his rookie season with Wilson in 2018 at the Rocco Forte Sicilian Open continues with the brand following a good season in 2021, with a best finish of tied second at the Alfred Dunhill Links Championship staged at the Old Course St. Andrews, Carnoustie & Kingsbarns, Scotland. Paul Waring, the 2018 Nordea Masters Champion, has played Wilson clubs since 2015 will also continue alongside Frenchman Benjamin Hebert who joined Wilson in 2019 and had a top-10 finish at the Porsche European Open last year and a T33 at the 149th Open at Royal St Georges.

Scotland’s David Law, who also won during his debut season with Wilson clubs at the ISPS Handa Vic Open in Australia in 2019 is aiming to continue his fine form following five top-20 finishes last year, including T4 on home turf at the Hero Open at Fairmont St Andrews and a T7 at the Porsche European Open. Jack Senior is aiming to follow-up a successful first season on the DP World Tour that included four top-10 finishes with his best being T6 at the ACCIONA Open de España.

“We have a fantastic blend of youth and experience on the Tour roster this season some coming off the back of strong performances on the DP World Tour last year and we look forward to more of those and hopefully a return to the winner’s circle,” said Doug Wright, Global Commercial Director of Wilson Golf.

“I’m excited by the new signings. We have a great team on the ground that supports a lot of players on the upcoming Tours. We’ve seen this with Andrew coming through to the DP World Tour this year and I’m delighted with the success he has had playing the Staff Model ball which we launched new last year” he added.
